Antique Basse Taille Silver & Enamel Canadian Military Brooch

Description

Believed to be a Canadian military brooch from the early 20th century this impressive brooch measures 70mm x 50mm and has basse taille enamelling with a central shield with the motto Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense translating to “Shamed be whoever thinks ill of us”.  Stamped stirling on the back, tested to confirm and having a strong hinge pin and ‘C’ catch.  Gross weight 23.5g.  The brooch is in very good condition and comes with the leather presentation box that we purchased it in.
