Description

A fine quality and unusual Christian Symbolism silver brooch depicting the ‘Pelican in her Piety’.  A symbol of self sacrifice.  The motto “Legis Plentitudo Caritas”  underneath, translating as “love is the fullness of the law”.  All silver with white and blue enamelling.  The reverse bears the Birmingham assay mark and date mark for 1937.  Makers mark AF for Arthur Fenwick, Birmingham and stamped Philip Tacey Ltd London.  The brooch measures 34mm x 30mm and weighs 8.6g.  It is in very good condition.
