Fabulous example of a Victorian mourning brooch. Circular brooch with an outer rim of half pearls and a inner ring of smaller half pearls. The centre of the brooch is a displayed piece of the deceased’s hair with tiny seed pearls representing tears. The outer section is filled with the deceased’s plaited hair. Measuring 40mm in diameter and crafted in 15ct yellow gold with hinge pin and ‘C’ catch. The brooch back is iridescent glass. Weight 19g.
