This piece of marble has been highly polished to show off the fossil of an orthoceras and mounted in a silver pendant mount. Orthoceras is a species of Extinct Marine Creature that populated our Planets Seas and Oceans during the Devonian Period – 420-355 million years ago. Their name means “straight horn”, which refers to the characteristic long, straight, conical shell and they are the ancestor’s of our modern-day Squid. The silver mount is hallmarked London 1987 and measures 70mm x 37mm including the bail. Weight 36.5g.
