Victorian 9ct Pietra Dura Brooch

Description

Pietra dura is the art of using the inlay technique of using cut and fitted, highly polished coloured stones to create images. It is considered a decorative art.  This Victorian brooch, measuring 45mm x 35mm, is a super example of this art having a lovely floral design.  Mounted in a 9ct yellow gold frame (no hallmark but tested).  Steel hinge pin and ‘C’ catch.  Gross weight 12.4g.
